Now that’s a sentence I never thought I would ever utter! After all, Herbalife is just another meal replacement shake, isn’t it? And it really doesn’t matter how many different flavors there are, you are still drinking your meals.
Well, I decided to change all of that.
Firstly, I decided that I really needed to find a way to make a Herbalife soup. A few years ago, there was a Herbalife tomato soup. It wasn’t that good and I guess it wasn’t very popular because it was taken off the market.
And so I did a Google search. And found a YouTube video by a Herbalife nutritionist who demonstrated how to make a Herbalife hot chocolate. I like my hot liquids really hot. But this wasn’t hot; it was just warm. And I wanted hot soup. It’s winter in South Africa soon and I don’t want to be drinking cold shakes. Also, I only have two meals a day and I didn’t want one of them to be a warm chocolate. I didn’t think that would be satisfying enough.
And so I made up my own recipe. I made a creamy chicken and herb soup! I prepared my vanilla shake with a bit of cold water. In the meantime, I added some chicken stock concentrate to a cup of hot water and brought it to a boil on the stove. I added some chopped parsley, celery leaves and black pepper for extra flavor. And then added the boiled stock to the Herbalife paste and blended it all together with an immersion blender. The Herbalife Formula 1 makes the soup thick and creamy. The stock and herbs add that all important savory flavor. It was tasty and hot. I garnished the soup with some chopped coriander. For a meal replacement shake, it is very tasty. Take a look at the finished product.
I have made several variations of this soup now, including a mushroom one with vegetable stock. The one thing that I wasn’t entirely happy with was that the soup was a bit sweet. I discovered that this was due to the Protein Drink Mix which I added in with the Formula 1. I have since replaced the PDM with PPP and it’s a lot less sweet.
This was just the first of a number of recipes that I created. Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks!
Until next time ☕️
