I haven’t been out for the entire week. Instead, I have been spending time doing maintenance on the house.
The pool pump had been out of action for three weeks while I was waiting for the pool company to provide a quote. Eventually, I lost patience and called another company. I’ve also been consulting with a company to renovate my garage as my daughter has reached the stage (and age) where she would like more privacy. And I have also succumbed to the temptation of looking at a power backup due to the frequency and duration of power outages.
So it was with a little reluctance that I pulled on my running shoes late this afternoon and set out for a walk. It turned out to be a lovely time for a walk. The weather had become quite overcast and the sun was hiding behind the cloud build up. I also took a slightly different route as I wanted to time a 20 minute walk for the early mornings. When the end of the 20 minute walk brought me back to my house, I had no hesitation to continue walking. It felt so good!
As usual, the dam was humming with people. There was a large group of kids at the canoe club, large crowds on the opposite side of the dam, the usual fisherman on the roadside, a number of braais (barbecues) on the go and worryingly a number of youngsters smoking hubbly-bubblies.
I was on the road for nearly an hour and arrived home hot, sweaty and with a lovely clear head.
And so my word for the week has come to me – Adapt. I can be a creature of habit and I have been feeling the discomfort of not working creep up on me. I have still not placed my CV on the market but have been blessed with a flow of opportunities coming my way. But nothing has caught my imagination as yet. And now that I have fully developed my group coaching program, I have little planned for this week. And so I will need to learn to adapt to having a lot of free time on my hands this week.
What will I do?
As for previous weeks, please feel free to adopt my word for the week if it resonates with you, and let me know how it worked for you.
Until next time ☕️
